What Is Swedish Pizza Salad?

As mentioned above, Swedish pizza salad, or pizzasallad, is a kind of cabbage salad that’s commonly served with pizza in many Swedish pizzerias or restaurants.

The main components of this salad are cabbage, oil, vinegar, and black pepper (some people like to add oregano).

So, what’s the pizza salad history in Sweden?

Well, they say that pizza salad was inspired by kupus salata, a cabbage salad that’s popular in Croatia and Italy. An entrepreneur named Giuseppe “Peppino” Sperandio wanted to serve a complimentary salad alongside his pizzas, and cabbage was a cheap and filling option.

So, he invented pizzasallad!
